Outstanding reissue of original American Flyer Gabe that is engineered to operate better than the LTI reissue and much better than the Gilbert Gabe. Uses 3-button controller like original Gilbert Gabe, unlike the LTI reissue. This MTH version seems to have been produced in much smaller numbers than the LTI version, which was produced later. For those reluctant to purchase MTH-American Flyer reissued products because they are not stamped with the American Flyer name, consider the following press release from LTI: “New York City, NY, Dec. 31, 2008 -- Lionel Electric Trains announced today that it has entered into a multi-year licensing agreement with M.T.H. Electric Trains, in which the Columbia, MD, model train maker will create a new line of tinplate Lionel Standard and O gauge products. The license will also include tinplate Standard and O gauge offerings for American Flyer, which has been part of Lionel since its acquisition in 1967.” Therefore, AF collectors can now consider certain MTH products to be legit American Flyer. MIB condition, includes outer shipping box in mint condition.
