My pair of Lionel Reading T1's. Had one renumbered to 2124 & upgraded 2100 to Lionel Command. Love to watch them pulling freight or passenger trains.

Choosing my favorite toy train is like trying to choose a favorite from among my four kids! It is not unlike my answer to the question, "What is your favorite pie?" To this, I always respond, "Just two kinds... *hot* and *cold*!" However, if you held a gun to my head, I would probably blurt out an admission to a special fondness for The General made by Lionel circa 1960. If I had to choose just one toy train, The General from Lionel would be The One!

I have to list three, not just one, but they're all three "favorites" for the same reason, so, in a sense, perhaps that consolidates them into "one." The first is the Super-O "5-Star General" set. It was a gift from a loving father who would never treat himself to toy trains but who loved to watch his son run the ones he bought for him. The second is LTI's Chessie T-1, one of the last gifts from a loving mother before dementia stole her ability to give any presents to those she loved. The third is the MTH UP "49er" set, an anniversary gift from a loving wife to her husband. When I watch these trains, what I really see is the love of the people who gave them to me.

I have a lot of favorites, but I guess I would have to say the next one I buy or the one I'm working on at this moment, which is my 265E blue comet, I got it for $10.00 at a auction last summer, I didn't even know what I had untill later that day, an it run's find but was missing some trim and I had to replace the cab.
